As a work-from-anywhere entrepreneur, I spend a lot of time in my home office. I absolutely love to head out for a day at a local cafe to get work done, but sometimes my work requires me to be in a more professional setting. One of the greatest perks of being a work from home entrepreneur is that I can set up a home office space that is both beautiful and functional – no need to wait to be promoted to that corner office!
Setting Up A Home Office You Love is An Important Part of Success
An aesthetically appealing work space is a divine space to create, execute and celebrate your professional successes.
Designing your space to attract abundance and be as efficient as possible is professionally necessary. Who wants to work in an environment that is cluttered, poorly constructed or overwhelming?
There are many ways to design a work space – you can check out my favorite spaces here, or you can do a little research on the ancient art of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is a Chinese practice that utilizes the energy of a room or space to draw forth possibilities in abundance, love, success… you name it!
Setting Up Your Home Office for Abundance
Abundance Tip #1: Keep your spare change nearby
I like to collect coins and spare change and place it in a jar on my desk. It’s a great reminder that I am endlessly abundant and to be grateful for even the smallest amount of money that comes into my life.
Abundance Tip #2: Utilize a filing rack
A three-level filing rack is a great way to keep your receipts, invoices and financial paperwork organized (that is, of course, if you haven’t gone paperless). Keeping your receipts and invoices up to date, filed and safely stored creates less energetic output, allowing you to focus on more important and forward-moving projects.
Abundance Tip #3: Keep your wallet clean
This may not have a lot to do with a home office, but it is important for the overall abundance and energy that flows through your finances! I recommend cleaning out your wallet weekly of old receipts, crumpled money or changing your wallet completely if there are holes or loose strings.
Setting Up Your Home Office for Comfort
Comfort Tip #1: Add water
A small fountain, fish tank or images of water (think ocean, lakes or rivers) are a wonderful way to create a relaxing environment. Have you been to a doctor’s office recently? Many doctors, dentists and even therapists use small fountains in their waiting areas to induce a sense of calm in their patients.
Comfort Tip #2: Pick colors that please you
Designing your home office space is all about you. Make sure you keep your office in line with the colors and patterns that appeal to you most. For an instant dose of energy, pick colors like hot pink, orange or red. For a more tranquil approach consider blues, greens and pastels.
Comfort Tip #3: Consider yourself a queen
A queen would never pick an uncomfortable, poorly made throne would she? No! In fact, she’d design a chair that was only up to the challenge of housing such a royal tush and I would recommend you do the same.
Setting Up Your Home Office for Productivity
Productivity Tip #1: Make sure everything has a home
Head on over to the Container Store or your local Target and buy a few canisters, jars or office supply holders that are both stylish and functional. Make sure your pens, notes and paperwork are delegated to either a on-desk filing system or folder system at the end of each day. There’s nothing like starting your day fresh with a clean desk and new ideas!
Productivity Tip #2: Hang your vision board nearby
Don’t have a vision board? Check out my super easy tutorial here. Make sure you place your most current vision board somewhere you can see it regularly so it inspires and motivates you when you are feeling less than productive. Nothing to get your energy flowing than looking up and seeing your dream home!
Productivity Tip #3: Create a schedule and stick to it
Turn off social media, silence your phone and create a daily schedule with your top five must do today to-do’s. Once you know your to-do’s, make sure you schedule time in your calendar for each – even if it’s just for 30 minutes – and make sure that time is laser focused. It may seem difficult at first to turn off the distractions but in time you will create the habit and thank me later!
