Let me guess: you’ve got a side hustle that you want to take to the next level, but you’re not sure how you’ll manage both a full-time job and your passion project. The good news is, it’s not just network marketers who work their business while clocking into a typical nine-to-five. In fact, many of my dear friends who are starting out in the coaching industry often work a “bridge” job as they build their side business.

If you wistfully dream of taking your side hustle and making it your primary profession, read on! I’m sharing my best tips for managing two careers simultaneously.

The Side Hustle

Whether it’s a long-held passion for health and fitness or the realization that your life’s calling needs to go in a completely different direction, most women start their next great professional adventure as a side hustle. Often a means to pay down debt, save for a special occasion and pursue their passions, the side hustle is how many women build their solo-businesses on a part-time basis.

Why part-time?

Because most women also have a typical nine-to-five career! Not only are many women clocking in long days at the corporate office but they’re then coming home to network, host webinars, call potential clients and follow-up with orders from that side gig.

I know this because I can relate! I started with Beachbody while working in a corporate position and quickly transitioned my side hustle work into a full-time profession.

It wasn’t always easy but it was definitely worth it! Today I am a successful coach, love what I do and helping others, and live my passions while working from anywhere. Now that’s a dream come true!

The Most Important Factor For Side Hustle Success

Hands down, time management.

Without a doubt, time management is essential to a successful business, not to mention just getting through your day with the amount of to-do’s on your agenda! If you plan on building a business – which may eventually grow to the point where you can leave your corporate career for good – then time management needs to become your primary priority.

The savvy solopreneur finds time to manage her side hustle for ultimate success. These tips will help you do just that!

4 Time Management Tips for Side Hustle Success

Need a little help creating success in your side gig? Want to build your side hustle so you can leave your traditional job for good? Great! Here’s a few tips to help get you there.

Time Management Tip #1: Make the Time

The most basic and yet often avoided practice in juggling two careers at once is making the time. Literally, take out your cellphone or day planner and block out specific times – either weekly or daily – to work on your part-time gig this very moment. For most this means getting up just a bit earlier or going to bed a tad bit later. Either way, scheduling those hours and showing up to do the work is what matters most when you’re just starting out!

Time Management Tip #2: Treat Your Side Hustle With Respect

Would you show up 30 minutes late to a meeting with your boss? Or blow off that email from a colleague even though it’s marked urgent? I doubt it! So why blow off that newsletter you know you should write or not follow up with that potential client? If you respect your side hustle as much as you did your full-time job, I’d bet you’d see financial traction in no time.

Time Management Tip #3: Get Lean

Tightening up your schedule means weeding out those engagements, parties or events that aren’t a priority and politely saying no to experiences that may not be of your best interest at the moment. No harm in hitting up one happy hour per week with your gal pals but rethink the daily cocktail hour in lieu of that big success picture.

Time Management Tip #4: Avoid Burnout

Working yourself to the bone – or clocking over 80 hours per week – is not a sustainable lifestyle, nor is it contributing to your joy! Find balance in the mayhem and remember to always indulge with a weekly day off (or two!). Your desire to get ahead may leave you feeling like you need to work all the time but trust me, this non-stop workaholic vibe will only burn you out faster than you can say, “I quit!”
