Coaching is all about your journey and you telling people to join you.

You are not a salesperson urging people to buy this or that.  You are YOU, and you are on your own journey, inviting others along for the ride.  You are here to inspire others.  You are not perfect and no one expects you to be; perfect isn’t inspiring.

The truth is, the key to attracting customers is to be yourself.  Authenticity is what inspires people.  Being real is what makes people relate to you and want to follow your journey.  People don’t want to follow someone who is fake – and believe me, it’s obvious when you’re being fake.  The beautiful thing about being a Beachbody coach, and a successful one at that, is that your customers will be attracted to you because of who YOU are.  Be genuine and try some of the tools below to attract new customers to your business:

  1. Instagram:  A few years ago, Facebook was arguably the best place for coaches to do business.  Everyone you knew was on there and it was free to use.  Unfortunately, bad salespeople and newsfeed spammers have lessened the impact that Facebook once had on Beachbody Coaches and their businesses.  Instagram offers a new opportunity for you to build your business and reach new people.  Hashtags allow you to target your audience and to find people in your ideal market.  Visually pleasing photos and storytelling captions along with your hashtags (you’re allowed 30 per post) will showcase YOU and your life, and attract new people to your business.  It’s ideal for coaches looking to reach far beyond their warm market.
  2. Facebook:  It’s still one of the best ways to reach people.  Who doesn’t have a Facebook account these days?  Your Facebook account is a great way for you to showcase your lifestyle and passion for helping others.  Motivational and inspiring posts are far more effective than sales posts.  Facebook should showcase you, and it shouldn’t be used as a tool for spamming your friends list.  Believe me, they see enough of this, and it will put them off and kill your business.  Share your journey on Facebook to reach your warm market and beyond.  Pro Tip:  Create a free Facebook fan page for your Coaching business.  You can learn how to set up a business page here. 3. YouTube:  YouTube has a huge market and it’s number 2 only to Facebook.  Combining these platforms can be huge for your business.  Create videos around you, your lifestyle, and your journey with Beachbody and their products.  This is not a place for you to add product videos, but rather, for you to share your story, how you can serve customers, and how you can help or answer common questions.  Videos create a sense of familiarity by putting a face with a name, making it easier for prospective coaches and customers to relate to you.  Be personal and honest with your videos – the more people relate to you and like you, the more they will subscribe to your channel.  More subscribers means you’ll be marketing to more and more people as you upload more videos.
  4. Twitter:  Twitter is where hashtags began.  Just like on Instagram, hashtags are used so you can reach a target audience or find posts that interest you.  Many Coaches have built large organizations on Twitter.   The trick with this social media platform is finding and following people whom you wish to follow you back.  There are several programs like TweetAdder and TweetDeck to help you with this process.  You can also use Hootsuite to preplan your tweets ahead of time.  Again, your tweets should tell a story about you.  However, you’re only allowed 140 characters per tweet, so in order to show your followers who you are, make each one count.
  5. Peer to Peer/Wear and Share:  Even in this digital age, nothing beats meeting people face-to-face, and it’s still one of the top ways to market your Beachbody business.  Simply sporting some of your Beachbody gear can be a conversation starter.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been approached while wearing my P90X t-shirt.  You can also put logos on your car, make flyers, or hand out business cards.  This method has a more personal touch, and will allow you to engage directly with prospective Coaches and customers rather than trying to develop a relationship through cyberspace.

The truth is, you could use any number of these tools and more to build a successful Beachbody business.  And I suggest you use them.  But here’s the thing:  you’ll want to learn how to use these tools.  It’s better to pick one social media platform and learn it well instead of using all of them and using them poorly.  Social media provides coaches with an amazing opportunity to reach millions of people, share our stories, and build our businesses for FREE.  You just need to invest the time into posting and learning how to post to these sites effectively.  If your business isn’t growing, it’s dying.  If you’re growing, you’re constantly talking to new people, developing new relationships, and adding people to your network.  In this digital age, you have the opportunity to do just that because there are millions of prospective customers at your fingertips.  You just need to know how to reach them.
